: those bands are so.... automatic. of course people say the beatles are the greatest band of all time, because they have no individual sense of good music. nirvana? how many times have you heard that? bob marley? sex pistols? metallica? these bands are just the corporate giants of their genres. people jump on the band wagon and dont get to sense the real diversity and technique of music. you listen to metal right? metallica fan? oh yeh punk rock, i like the sex pistols! not that these bands arent good, its just not apparent that you have any sort of genuine attachment to these bands when everyone who has ever heard of the concept of music picks these bands to be the best ones. whatever is on the radio seems to be the most talented bands out there. it is social proximity that creates this fact, and its lame. not that you cant like these bands, i just think you should listen to a little more bands and form a little more personal list of great bands,

: mine:

: greatest band of all time- dead milkmen

: amebix

: crass

: angry samoans

: hot water music

: nausea

: nirvana

: metallica

: backstreet boys

: pink floyd

: beatles

: elvis

I was just thinking of bands everybody would know. If it's bands you don't know, I'll give that to you too. The Vaselines, Sonic Youth, The Pixies, Velvet Underground, Ween, THE FROGS(

!!!!!), Joy Division, Meat Puppets(maybe?), Eyes Adrift(<look into them), Butthole Surfers, Black Flag...yeah. I can't think of many more. I'm tired again. Uhm. Yeah. If you want to hear about more underground bands, just ask here.
