Well, actually the problem doesn't come from the hard drive or the RAM. The problem comes from the fact that my old computer is slowly melting into nothingness and it starts rebooting or crashing for no reason. It started crashing months ago (I couldn't even turn it on) and I managed to fix the problem (I literally opened the computer) but that made the keyboard non-functional in the process, and I had to buy a new keyboard. Since then I've had more and more problems with it, at first with the sound card, and now it crashes often. I suppose I could try underclocking the new computer, but it wouldn't fix the graphics problem, and I'm afraid that the problems I have with the new computer are due to the video card and the screen. And replacing the video card would be very difficult since I'm using a portable computer. Thanks for the tips though.
