The other thing is, that the shortest end is the best one. Dink refuses to help the woman, has a great holiday and the basilisk scale stays with the basilisk. I wonder, if there are better endings in between (Dink doing something smarter with the scale). But that would have missed the greatly painted destroyed world for the player.
No... ultimately the Tinker/Decretius gets the scale, be it from Dink or someone else. At one stage I was going to have it be someone else as a possible branch of the DMOD - in fact it was going to be Skard, but too much work and it took away from the fact that Dink causes the end of the world by being too gulible.
This branching was going to happen if you got locked up in Prison in the Land of Punz. Now Dink gets out and is instantly killed by frog-bots because he is not strong enough to survive.
