Eh, you probably just waited too long to make a move. I'm sure if you had reciprocated on one of them... it wouldn't have mattered whether you liked that stuff (and if they did have that much of a problem with it after getting to know you, then your assumption of them not being worth your time would be right). Women can be a might skiddish about things they don't understand (well, really, people in general are that way).
