No, it should reapear... there are (I believe) about three screens where the bonca can apear, all of them should still work after you've seen the bonca once...
So I think your problem is pretty simple: 'Bad Luck', It apears randomly, so you could strike gold first time, or enter that screen 20 times without seeing it...
There's a 1 out of 10 chance to see the bonca whenever entering the screen.
