The gaming companies don't lose any money, in theory, if you download the game instead of buying it, the SHOP which sells the game loses from that, since they have already bought the game from the company.

I've always kept p2p legal, since it's data transferred from peer to peer, just like text in messenger ect. I really don't know these laws well, and like i would care. I doubt that FBI doesn't rush on every warez-teens room and arrest them.
