Nearly all punk sounds the same. It is just simple powerchord riffs in "major" (dur. OK, some in minor aswell) with crappy vocals. And if you want to say that the text is important, I have to disappoint you... I can't listen to a lot of text when there is music. Even in punk, the music catches my mind more.

If you wonder what music I listen to "besides of punk".. It's a lot. In the rock/metal genres I listen to Emperor, Satyricon, Immortal, Meshuggah and Burzum (haha, no "rock". ). They are all Black or Death metal bands (Meshuggah.. I am not sure). I know a lot of people don't like Black and Death metal because of the vocals, and because it is generally too hard and/or heavy, but these bands are like 100 times more advanced than popular music (or punk), and they have more "feelings" too. I like classical music aswell, Bach, Mozart, Mendelsohn, Grieg, Stravinsky, Sæverud, John Williams (film music composer. Jurassic park etc.) and some modern norwegian composers.

I like other music styles too, but instead of posting endless lists here, I can tell you my general "rule" for liking art, if I manage to translate it well: In all forms of art, I like the works that the artist has been working to create (like me with A-Z. ), and that are either advanced, beautiful or with "mood" and expression.
