I know, it makes almost no sence. Oh, and just so you know, the weight of an object is it's force due to gravity times mass, and the mass off an object is its, well, mass. I think slugs are imperial, one could also use those to measure mass. Just remember, mass doesn't change when you use a balance scale in different places, weight does. 
Just remember: distance is lenght(l), velocity(v) is in l/time, acceleration(a) is in v/t or l/t^2. Force(N) is a*m, Energy(j) is N*m, and Power (W) is J/s or m^2*l/t^3. That's as far as I've gotten in physics.
