Seeing as "Dawn of the Dead" has just been released, and "Sean of the Dead" will be soon following it, I've been in a mindset dominated by spooky, scary things recently (well... more so than normal!).
Now, I've never been too into my scary films. I thought "The Exorcist" was pants, but the "Blair Witch Project" was excellent. Many will probably disagree with me here... but as I say, I'm no film buff.
The medium of videogames brings a whole new level to fear. Now we can actually be involved in whatever the hells going on. Be it zombies hunting you down in Resident Evil, or freakish goings on in Silent Hill; YOU are there, YOU are dealing with it, and YOU are the one filling your trousers. Well, it's not you, but it's far closer than just watching someone on a TV/cinema screen.
You are in control. I've never played many survival horrors. My experience goes as far as a couple of hours on the original Silent Hill (as well as a few on Resident Evil 2) and I'm currently borrowing he remake of RE for the GameCube. And what's it like?
Rubbish. Total rubbish. I won't even go into it here. Suffice to say that the gameplay is SO shocking I actually prefer typing this to playing it.
And now... what was the point of this post? Oh yes, the game that has got me interested in spooks again. Project Zero. No guns. No zombies chewing on your neck. Just a camera and a haunted mansion. And a bucketload of atmosphere. The controller sporradically (yet gently) vibrates, as the gentle music fades in and out. Miku (the girl you are controlling) cautiously walks down a corridor. Then BANG!! The controller in your hands jerks violently as the camera view switches, and you are left with an ethereal arm, swaying gently from side to side, hanging from the rafters.

Trousers filled.

So... what's the scariest game you've ever played?
