Reply to Can't control the game

I have problems to control the game. At the start screen the "Dink arrow" drags to the left. If I'm quick with the mouse or the gamepad it's possible to hit the Start or the Quit button. In the game Dink runs uncontrolled to the left until a sprite stops him.
As far as I remember this happens because of two things - too old DirectX and something more, which I don't remember. Anyone who can help me what to do? (Of course DirectX 9 is installed, so don't waste your time by telling me that
