I really don't like what Sam, Legolas and the ents look like in the movies. Legolas looks fabulous, Sam and the ents just plain stupid. And yeah, the whole Arwen thing is a bit silly. As for the exclusion of Tom Bombadil, it's propably only a good thing. 
Many characters in the LOTR movies look like something I didn't imagine them like at all, (and a bit stupid too) but not as greatly as in most movies based on books.
After all that is the main reason why I don't like such movies, watching them is like if someone would take the world you're used to know away from you and change it into something totally different.
