Greetings to one and all.
Hmmm, interesting board with contributers who appear to be a bit further up the foodchain than is often the case in such fora (forums's; forumses; forums' ..... oh, what the heck!)
I suspect the level of Bush's intelligence is a side issue. Puppets don't need to be bright (in fact it can lead them into all kinds of trouble ..... think Pinnochio here). Bush is actually run by the REALLY scary bunch of neo-cons who represent mega-business and the fundamentalist religious right and who bought the White House (while the people were being distracted by the 'election' show).
Most realistic people are healthily sceptical of politicians' underlying motives, but the current bunch don't even care what the voters think of them. They are arrogant enough to laugh at public opinion - after all what does YOUR vote count for when they can buy entire States.
If you think that I overstate the case, just contemplate the damaged goods who make up the administration .... Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheyney, Poindexter .... all either intimately connected with multinational companies in the fields of energy, construction, oil etc., or former discredited politicos who have been absolved of their crimes by the administration (if not by their former victims).
OK, maybe they have snowed you into thinking that the dismantling of the welfare net and the redistribution of $billions in tax relief to the richest 5% is FOR YOUR OWN GOOD (side issue .... anyone who believes that is Olympic level dumb), but look away from the crumbling US economy for a minute or two. Perhaps the true measure of Bush and his administration is shown by the friends they keep. Berlusconi (Italian Premier) is under investigation for corruption; Jose Maria Aznar (Spanish Premier) has just this week refused to honour the victims of Gen. Franco's fascist regime; Sharon (Israeli Premier) has been denounced as being too aggresive and violent by his own chiefs of the army and security forces; Blair (UK Prime Minister) is a sad-sack poodle .... and don't forget old pals such as Saddam (out of work Iraqi Pres.) who was a pal of Rumsfelds back in the days when Rummy sold him the anthrax for use on the Kurds; Bin Laden (shock-jock of the Semtex loving minority) who was funded and trained by the CIA (I believe this was when Bush Snr was running things there); Noriego (ex-Panamanian dictator and drug pusher) also a CIA alumni .... etc., etc., need I say more?
So, does it really matter if Bush is dumb or not? (he is, by the way). After all, a syphilis virus may not be very bright .... but it can sure ruin your day!
