I'm not so sure about that... The GNU GPL FAQ seems to think otherwise in certain circumstances. https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WindowsRuntimeAndGPL

So from what I can gather, that would include the MSVC redist installers too?...

So as far as I can understand, you'd be free to compile a GPL program with MSVC, and distribute the software, but not the MSVC redist itself. You would have to tell the users to go get that themselves. Which is a major pain in the butt so you'd be better off just using MinGW in the first place to avoid such issues.

PS: What the heck is even going on in that pic, how the heck is it mirrored and flipped?!
