As we are talking of legality, I repeat that there will not be any MP3 support, since encoding and decoding algorithms are patented. See http://www.mp3licensing.com/ for details.

However, the same idea can be applied to the free and better Ogg Vorbis audio format very well. We could extend it for D-Mod compression, and have a free utility transform JPEG and PNG graphics to BMP.
