I bet you can't tell me who the victor of the Great Emu War of 1932 was without looking it up. And I would win that bet, because like literally everything else, chances are you have to have someone tell you what it was or look it up to learn about it.
Funnily enough, I happen to know of what happened at Rorke's Rift because my dad watches the film 'Zulu' at least once a year. Though, like many films, it's not historically accurate, and I would likely get several things wrong if I gave you a synopsis of said film.
