Mad Max: Fury Road is subpar.
Max has no character, growling in a ridiculous Christian Bale's ridiculous Batman voice voice. The chick is the real protagonist, and she's not much better. Her defining character traits are being relentless and having dipped her head into an oil barrel.
The action scenes look good, but since you don't care about any of the people, you don't care about any of what's going on; Action without emotional investment is just a bunch of guys jumping around. The only remotely sympathetic character was Knux (orwhateverthehellthatnamewas), and his story arc of becoming a good guy all of a sudden made no sense.
Yawn.
