Well actually the wankers who run GOG roam around the internet sending c&d notices to abandonware sites so that they can sell the games on their site instead. They actually contact the rights holders (who usually have absolutely nothing to do with the game and generally don't care) and set up digital distribution deals with them, which usually involves nothing other than putting it in a DOSBox installer bundle. They've caused numerous legal issues for abandonware sites with some of them being forced to close down.

It's better that way, since some of the games require specific configuration for DOSBox to make it work. Take Round 42 for example, on default DOSBox settings everything is ducked up. Until you realize that you have to set the machine emulation to CGA, then it will work fine.

The only good thing about GOG is that their installers are DRM-free so you can simply torrent them off of thepiratebay, which you ought to do instead of ever giving them a cent.
