Dunno if this is a joke or watevs, but just so y'all know, any rituals, totems or whatever DO NOT work.

The only way to get rid of them is to search your house for the item its connected to and burn it. Or destroy it completely. The item could be anything connected to spiritism, the occult or even religious items like crosses (ironically these sorts of religious items are the most common item) it could even be a movie or music CD or anything similar.

I've heard a case of the item being Indiana Jones and the temple of doom. As an example.

That's only in the case of spiritual attachment, which means the entire house could be the object of attachment.
A simple cleansing with sage and salt is neither ritual nor totemic, sage removes negative energies and salt acts as a barrier.
Rituals generally are the domain of magic-based spiritual paths, or non-mainstream religions. You never want to use a ritual if you have no idea what you're doing, as it can backfire or fail entirely. If you do a bit of research, but don't try to understand, then you're dabbling, which can backfire even harder.
In the case of totems, they're not protective items, they're guiding aspects in a spiritual journey, primarily connected to Native American belief, but can be found in some neo-pagan belief systems.

However, you are right in burning things with negative energies, but only if it's something that's directly harming you (Though cleansing can remove it). Fire is the ultimate purifier, after all.

In any case, what Skurn just did is called 'Debunking'. This is attributing a possible explanation which calls into question the validity of esoteric and/or spiritual proof. He gave an example of what it might be, and therefore if he can directly correlate a turkey (or other poultry) with the sound, then it's not spiritual in nature.
