As far as I'm concerned, the Playsstation had the better library, but I can't say I'd fully known due to the fact that the Playstation was my first home console and the only N64 game I own right now is Superman.
Superman 64? It's a hilariously broken game, but awful to be the only game you own for the console.
There are a ton of good games for both consoles, but I have to agree with most here that the PS1 has the edge for me. N64 is full of a lot of "fun" titles but other than some exceptions such as Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time there wasn't quite as many titles that pushed the bar like the PS1 games did.
And yeah, I have never liked the N64 controller. It's so much easier for me to play the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time than the N64 one simply because I'm more comfortable with the controller. Interestingly enough, I think the Gamecube controller might be my favorite controller so far, despite not being a huge fan of the console itself (though it also has some games worth playing).
