@Therainmaker, that is why I support the work currently being done on synthesizing meat. It may be possible, soon, to produce the various products vegans refuse to eat (Meat, eggs, milk, etc.) without animals at all, which would vastly reduce the space required and allow us to feed without harming animals in the process.
It also comes with some neat side effects, namely that we would be able to try the meat of endangered species. On the downside, I expect that most current livestock would all but die out entirely, as they would become worthless.
