Never quite liked or got into Alien that much. I think it has most to do with the movies themselves. I just think Alien as a movie is much less original than Predator, although neither one's that original.
Did you perchance last see the movies when you were a kid? That's the best way I can make sense of this opinion, since the absolute opposite is true, as far as I'm concerned.
Especially the first Alien isn't really enjoyable for young people, since it's more about psychological horror than anything. Alien 2 (Aliens) is an action movie, but still on a high grade as far as being intelligent goes, very much so for a Hollywood blockbuster.
Predator, on the other hand, is little more than a dumb action movie - an enjoyable dumb action movie, but there's about as much depth to the movie as there is in a puddle on an asphalt road.
As for all the goddang sequels... Neither franchise has produced anything but varyingly stinky piles of poo since.
