Let us save our effort and just lie down and die.
Was brought up vegan. I eat meat now, but still vego at home. I have come to no harm from such an existence, but I find that meat will fill for longer then anything else.
Vegetarianism lends to lower incidence of certain diseases and infections, chiefly gastro infections... idea is if it can survive in flesh it can survive in you.
Additionally, a balanced diet (vego or not) will improve your bowel function which is pretty good.
Additionally, you'll be saving the environment - cows produce 1/3rd of Britain's and 2/3rd of the worlds ammonia.

My Opa, who was the last of centuries of farmers in my ancestry, told of the best steak ever eaten - the chosen cow was released into a field of clover away from the herd (clover is like ecstasy for cows). The hunting rifle was loaded and aimed from the other end of the field to the cow's ignorance. A shot to the head and the cow went to bovine heaven. She was then skinned and bled and the better parts cut and taken to the kitchen. I am told the difference in taste is as significant as the difference between a supermarket tomato and a locally grown one.
