First of all, you should say why isn't " " written like ":D"
And second, you should've written, "why does the line "Notify me of reply?." have both a question mark and a dot at the end?

" written like "> " or "> " instead? That's better for two reasons. One, that's really more what the smiley looks like, and two, it wouldn't mess up the "sp_> " command.
