Well, what's the point of NOT living? =) We're here, we're alive, so might as well enjoy it and try to do something with our lives. If there is nothing after death, it's all going to be meaningless to you personally after you die anyway, even if the world on the whole doesn't end.

Leprochaun: Thankfully, mankind is going through a period of booming technological advancement. If it keeps up for several centuries, the chances of getting wiped out by any singluar disaster should be significantly lessened. (Spreading out to space, etc)
