The real mistake Redink made is that he didn't look at the current situation of the site when he left. Tal was already "planning" to leave, if you will, when Redink made him the King. Dan and Tal were just teenagers when they made the deal of Tal becoming the next King, and who knows, maybe Tal would have done a good job back then. Dan decided to keep the agreement, even though eight or nine years passed. It might also interest you people that Tal still doesn't have as much power over the site as Redink, even if he is named the King.
