Kangaroos are not generally considered pests. They're our national animal! Kangaroos are sometimes culled in an attempt to keep their population in check, though.

There are many animals classified as pests in Australia, but as far as I am aware, they are all introduced species (e.g., rabbits, foxes, cane toads). Pests can be legally hunted/killed, but you need a permit to kill kangaroos
