The first one could be a reference of how samurai or bushi would take their lives if they dishonored their family. 'Seppuku' or 'My Life' would be viable answers if the riddle follows that mindset.
With a man's worst nightmare, it could be something dealing directly with what they love. To lose what they love, possibly a 'Wife' or 'Family Member', or the nightmare is 'Impotence' or a 'Venereal Disease'. Maybe it's 'Sex' or 'Castration'. Most likely it is a 'Cock Block'.
