They would most likely survive blending into society by staying in their Human forms. But that's a theory for the present moment.
I think it has more to do with the ready availability of bananas. They give them the energy that they need, supplementing their' fatty diet of human flesh, which has, over the years led to increased obesity and heart-disease amongst the werewolves.
