I use this client cause I hate the java browser one... file is 'pirch 98' so a touch old but is good for beginners to chat. Its stand alone so u don't need to have your browser open to use it. You can send and receive files thru it as well - Only if u wanna tho... check all your preferences before you connect (irc.freenode) not on my home computer so ask ExD if he remembers the address to log into
