Yes, MIDIs/music definitely make the feeling to the game. Just think of it. If you were playing a horror game with no music or with music something like this, would it be scary? No, I don't think it would.
Music must be placed at the perfect spot and situation. Game/movie can also have no music, but only at right situations.
