It rubs the lotion on its skin...
I recently got a new/first laptop. Its a hp dv2845se if you care. The only reason I got the special edition is for the slightly different case...oh well. Anyway, I'm contemplating taking windows off and running linux on it. Now I've dual booted linux on my desktop for a while with the only reason i see keeping windows is for itunes being able to work my ipod. so my question: does anyone know of a good program for linux that can work with my ipod just as well as itunes? If I was to find such a program I probably could take windows off both machines and not be missing anything.

I've used both Amarok and Gtk-pod for that task... as well as ipodslave, but that one's a little more complicated than the other two. As for how well they work, you're going to have to test that yourself, since I despised iTunes from the second I had to use it, and thus never did.

Rhythmbox looks much like iTunes (I think, anyway) and comes with a plugin specifically to support the iPod hardware.
