Where do you turn StickKeys (shift*5) off if pressing settings doesn't work? And all other key combinations that might be on by default.

Hmm, try your own language equivalent of:

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Accessability Options > Keyboard tab and then the various Settings buttons.
