How can you really make any game without an idea for story. Story is an essential part of a game. Story is what makes it your game, what makes it worth playing. seriously, i doubt you can do anything until you have a story...

Use a instant messanger, since e-mail is actually a hard way to contact eachothers.

KMaikl, finally someone who shares my view. This project is doomed without a well designed story. And even then, two newbies collaborating on a d-mod = 0.00001% at succes, we've all seen it before a hundred times already and at least 50% of us have already tried doing a group d-mod but IT JUST DOESN'T WORK.
