is there a way to reverse dir.ff? to make it .bmp's again?

Not easily. Basically the only way for for people who don't know how to de-splice the file would be going to whichever dink editor you use, taking screenshots, then paste and croping them to the desired image. Note, this only works if they are initalized in dink.ini or main.ini. I forget which.
But then again, I could be wrong. I haven't fiddled with this stuff for 3 years...
