Never be afraid to ask, but don't demand an answer
I have a Blender project which is working nicely so far, but now I need to do some sculpting and even with all the web tutorials on it, I can't seem to do it. Does anyone here have experience with it?

Ps: No, I didn't pick the wrong category, but I don't want to give details on why this is Dink-related.

Hmm..
Hey Shevek!
What are you making? If you are new to 3d modelling and if you are planning to animate what you are making I strongly advice you not to do any sculpting! The reason is that this will break your topology (if you use dynamic topology or require a very high poly mesh if you don't), this will make rigging much harder.

Sculpting is often used as one step in a professional workflow where you design a lowpoly mesh, sculpt it, and render what's called a normal map which converts the geometry into an image which can then be used on the original low-poly version to simmulate details (this is really and over-kill if you render it to dink).

I'd love to help you with tips if you are new to blender, I've been using it for like four years now and I'm currently studying computer graphics in a swedish university.. I love to talk about the subject

Write here or on skype (Linuspojken) if you want any help!
Oh and check out my file Dink Shadows for Blender if you haven't already. It's got the correct (or semi-correct) camera, light and shadow set-up to render dink graphics!

Very cool iplaydink! The two times I've tried to use blender have ended in disaster. Though admittedly, I wasn't trying very hard. I still find the topic quite interesting though.

Blender is really a pain to learn... (tough it's better since version 2.5+) but once you get to know it you can work incredibly fast because of the focus on keyboard shortcuts.

If you want to give it another try check out these tutorials on cgcookie. http://cgcookie.com/blender/cgc-courses/blender-basics-introduction-for-beginners/

And when you have learnt the basics check out blenderguru.com, where you can find some really helpful tutorials, even though they do require some basic knowledge.

I've been thinking of making some blender tutorials myself, focusing on making graphics for dink, but I've never gotten around to it... maybe one day!
