Hmm.. 
Blender is really a pain to learn... (tough it's better since version 2.5+) but once you get to know it you can work incredibly fast because of the focus on keyboard shortcuts.

And when you have learnt the basics check out blenderguru.com, where you can find some really helpful tutorials, even though they do require some basic knowledge.

I've been thinking of making some blender tutorials myself, focusing on making graphics for dink, but I've never gotten around to it... maybe one day!
