I just finished playing the Friends Beyond trilogy. That was awesome! I am totally amazed that it is never mentioned with the other great DMods.

I mean, CC1 is nice, CC2 is great, but CC3 is not available. Stone of Balance is very good, Pilgrim's Quest is even better, but Necromancer is not available. And here we have a completed trilogy, where part 1 is nice, part 2 is great and part 3 is even greater, and it never gets mentioned...

I felt I had to post this message, to fix that.

I love how out of the unfinished trilogies CC and SOB are always mentioned but Dinky Dimensions is just forgotten to the background. Poor Dan.

Hehe, yes sorry. After posting, I thought I should have mentioned it. Although it is really weird as well: Fiat is part one of a trilogy, but End of Time is obviously the end. So it's a trilogy in two parts.

It seems that only trilogies where a third part is promised but never made make it to be remembered.

Thing is, FB3 is a series of empty map squares :/ No bigger immersion breaker than that imo. I liked the story and that there was much to do though. Wouldn't call the whole series "great" by any means though. Well, at least not placing it next to the d-mods you mentioned yourself

FB3 is one of my favourite D-Mods. Yes, the map is bad, but it has lots of other stuff going for it.

I never got through the FB series games, I would either get bored of trying to figure out what I was supposed to do or get stopped by a bug.

I suppose I have a lot of patience. It was pretty clear to me what I had to do, though. Only in FB2 are there so many paths, and taking one closes another, that it's hard to find out which one will take you to the real ending.

Yes, that is a bit annoying indeed. In FB2 I hit an incredibly weird bug, where the ice sword would automatically vanish from my inventory. I traced it back to Freedink being unable to show the image. Its response was to discard the item, which is annoying. I'd like to know if anyone can reproduce this bug in regular Dink, by the way. If you want to go there, save the guy with the sword, then solve the faces puzzle.

In FB3 there are some bugs regarding the reopening of quests: it's for several quests possible to trigger their start again after finishing them. I suppose it takes patience when you encounter one of those as well.

To me, the nonlinear storyline makes it really interesting. The light (and at some moments heavy) moral undertone pleases me as well; it makes it feel like a hollywood movie. Those things more than make up for the bugs to me. But I can understand if you think they don't.

Hi, FB got me again, i have a runesword already, i talk twice to the same guy in the celaar and then the avatar says "we help you with a sword" and then they SHOULD give 1800 ? but my 5002 becoame 2500 HE, that routne is a THIEF, in the middle of the game!
so, the routine should have known the situation and IF it was COMPLETE in stead of STORYTELLING, then it would have worked fine i gues.
i think to understand that the RE-programmer is very eager and becouse of that there are MANY OPEN ROUTINES that dont measure a TOTAL OF VARIABLE INFORMATION
oeps, shouting it out.
well if DINK ALREADY has s word THEN CHECK THAT which means the story line has to be completed.
" IF sword=rune THEN say("WEl done, wel,, eh, we do have a little fund but since you already have a sword of big value, will we split"
and then the avatar goes for the 'bargain'

after playing A LONG LONG time, there are No golden apples in my pouch. just organges and BOUGHT apples...

i re did the sword part and it defenitly REDUCES the money instead of adding.
but worse over worst
in the shop where they BUY stuff i HANGS
the only ket WORKING is ALT+ENTER
so the game KILLED IT SELF after choose the first 'sallable' sword for 400
and then the remark
" Oh But did you DOnt HAve A Small Sword"
after that the avatar moved AT ONE SPOT only and whith out ANY other key then .....

well
please FINISH MAKING your games since RUNNING OF WITH THAT SJAALTJE HAS NO USE TO A complete PROGRAMME
this is no fun at al, luckely you DONT programe a nuclear instalation, and even luckely neither do i.

Well, you could start with your moneyback guarantee activation, then i might have some credits to refurbish.
it always winds down to 2500 and then i still have to buy the bloody rune sword again.

btw, i hardly programed any C nor C++ etc

if you are in the weapom store where the 'blue guy' has nothing to sell and the 'greybrwon' guy want to BUY your stuff.
So if
srune == 1
means if the amont of rune sword equal 1 then
add some money AND DO NOT reduce the AMOUNT OFF RUNE SWORDS...

AFTER the 'remove' line
and with just a simple save and not even a compile DINKS FREE AGAIN..

Erm... Why are you so bothered by the game giving you an infinite gold exploit?

I agree that's some shoddy coding, though. I remember Friends Beyond 3 fondly, but it's probably way buggier and more awkwardly written now than it felt like back then.

it frezes when i offer a sword i dont have, but i should try it anyway shouldn't i.
maybe this game is not about finishing the game but about finishing the game, it puzzled me for a while yet
now i think i realy did earn that gold coin, right? if i have two i make them in earrings.
