Not sure if anyone can help me with this, but I don't know where else to go, that I can go anyways.

Anyone know how to make an effect where a sword looks like it stabs through a layer into another layer in Adobe Flash Professional CS5?

I doubt I'll get help with this, if I don't I give up because I need to figure out how to do it.

Can't you just split the sword into two layers? That's how I would do it in something like Photoshop anyway, I'd guess that was your best bet in Flash too. Of course with animation that gets more complicated, but I'd be surprised if there's actually a way to have an object stretch though two layers like that. (I admit I know next to nothing about Flash though.)

Edit: Actually, thinking about a little more, it might be better to split the layer that gets stabbed and keep the sword in the middle.

Anyway, I don't know what I'm talking about. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I looked up a masking tutorial on my dad's laptop, and I got it correctly.

Thanks for trying to help though.
