Just thought I'd let you all know, if you aren't aware already, that Steam's forums and database was hacked on Sunday night.

As it says, be wary of credit card information and any dodgy transactions on statements that you're unaware of.

And I am glad about it.

Well I use Paypal, safest way in cases of hacks. Still annoying that it happened though.

Gabe Newell and Valve told us that everything was encrypted. No user-data/credit card information were stolen and change your password, just in case. Steam won't go down as easily as Sony-network did.

I love how people go off on Sony for getting hacked but Valve is being given a free pass. Both got the same kind of data stolen, don't kid yourself. The credit card info Sony lost was also encrypted, just like Steam's. Doesn't mean they can't crack it though.

The guys who hacked steam wouldnt be ducktards so as to not figure out how to un-encrypt the matter.

On the upside, Sony offered us free games that would cost $25-30 elsewhere when it got hacked (European PSN, Welcome Back games)

Yeh, I guess you're right. Those hackers are splendid, considering they bypassed numerous firewalls and other security stuff to get into the database.

Encrypted data? Nothing to worry about here.

Yeh, isn't even worth to try to decrypt.
