Yes, I'm about to work again on Dink Racer. (The donkey-like arcade thing). What do you like better:
Collecting gold to advance to the next level (old system), or with a timer, so you'll have to survive (and how long should you have to survive?).

Heh, I hate racing games too, but not arcade racing games such as Dink Racer.
Maye you should offer the player a choice between the two ways of levelling up. If I had to choose I'd say the gold.
