Best one I found personally is Metas Intro to dmoddingfor a complete start to finish

Or if you like a visual tutorial better, Robj's got some video tutorials on YouTube. There's a sticky thread up there with links to them, if I remember correctly. He's still in progress of making all the videos, and uploads them quite randomly, though.
