Finland truly is the country of metal
Just a few days back, I found out about this cool Finnish band called Hevisaurus. They're basically a childrens' band, with quite childish, yet in some cases dramatic or folkloric lyrics. Plus, their music actually pwns. If someone who listens to epic heavymetal, doesn't care about lyrical content, nor knows Finnish, listens to this band, they could very well become easily addicted. This is an example of what children should listen to these days, instead of someone like Lady Gaga, who in any way, doesn't make suitable lyrical nor visual content for children, and whose music sucks ass. Too bad these kinda bands always go unnoticed.
Here's one of (my favorite) Hevisaurus' songs: Takapiha (Backyard).
Also, they wear dinosaur suits while on stage. How CAN'T you love them?

Occasionally I get viimeinen mammutti in my head.
Looks (and sounds) pretty retarded to me.
I still think Nightwish is one of Finlands' best musical exports.
Playing to my Mexican alter-ego a little here, but I do sincerely proclaim Spain one the master countries of metal, next to USA and Britain (metal's motherland)

Nightwish is excellent choice schnapps
Considering this is a childs' band, and it has pretty dang heavy metal stuff, I'd say Finland is the country of metal. There are very little other countries that try to actually "teach" metal to children. There are a few other bands like that here too.
Nightwish is said to be the cornerstone of our music. I just don't get why. It was too opera-like with the the old singer, and with the new one, it just sucks.

SLAPS marpro thats just evil - most annoying sound ever
Meh, one of the related tracks they had were okay... I don't really like the finnish vocals, though. I bet you dislike hearing Swedish vocals as well.
I like that, Marpro
Falconer is a nice band... Most of their music is in english (like "Clarion Call") but they do have some tracks with Swedish vocals too, as you heard.
Cheers btw!

Aha! I am familiar with this song!
That's not bad. I think the most problems people had with the band I posted is that it's sang in Finnish, and that it's designed for children, which prevents the singer from being "too serious" when singing. But they sing pretty well in English too. Heck, Gus G gave the guitarist of Hevisaurus his guitar.
As for Swedish bands, I hear they're not quite as metal fans as some, but I like Ghost. It's kinda like the Swedish Lordi. Except honestly, Lordi has better costumes and acting when live.

To be honest, Skull, I disliked Hevisaurus' voices and whole sound ... immensely. Lordi, good. Ghost, not bad, but I wouldn't listen to it whilst cooking. For some seriously pro-epic costumery-ism, check Gwar and again.
Darn I hate that orge voice singing. I mean, too many bands have ruined themselves with that. The songs start out great, then BANG, some guy who sounds like he's been smoking cigarettes for the last 50 years non-stop steps into the mic.
Where did you hear this? I use to hear the opposite!
Well, I guess it was more of a general assumption I guess. I always just imagined you were more into classical music or something.

Bach. That's the beauty of melodic death metal. Most people don't like it at all, but a few (like me) enjoy it a lot.
I really hate that emokids listening to this kind of music. It drags the whole genre down.

I think melodic death metal would be a lot more beautiful without the ogre singers.
Why can't kids listen to metal? They are going to end up listening to it anyway, so might as well start them young.
As for what country is king of metal: none are. All countries have there own flavour of metal, the result of the tendency to mix the already present native styles of music with the pure metal base. Personally, I like most nationalities of metal, because each is a little different. I would have to say metal from Slavic countries rates pretty high on my overall list though, because they can get in plenty of base without making it impossible to hear the singer. This is a trick American death metal would do well to learn.

Hey, I didn't invent the saying that Finland is the king of metal. I just said Finland is a country of metal. And it might as well be the king country of metal, cause I don't know any other country, that for the past 30 years has tried to teach kids rock and metal and all sorta heavy stuff, while others have gone with the present music styles, such as pop, rap, hip hop and all sorta stuff.
Yup, dude, it's GWAR (funny, but PNSFW link).
Also, yes, Finland does generally have very good metal.

Haha, Beavis and Butthead. I still remember that show. I think I have a Beavis & Butthead shirt somewhere. xD
I could never get into metal. I actually hate it
SOME of it, rare songs, I can stand and some even rarer ones I like.

Are you sure? Metal can variate from many different types of music. From all out hell breaking loose ogre screaming, to slow and peaceful simple acoustic guitar songs.
OH MY GOD THAT IS AWESOME!

I like it, and that disproved your statement before you even made it.
Just to see what it was like, I listened to Nyan Cat and Crazy Bus at the same time.
Please, don't make the same mistake I did.

What was it like at the Other Side, Pillbug?
Re: Magicman - I remember the Thunderlords! I seem to remember someone linked to this from TDN ages ago...
