Trimming Graphics
In a lot of DMods I've seen, people cut bits off the graphics somehow, without making new sprites. I was wondering if someone could tell me how this is done?
For a reference, look at the portraits in the Hall of Hero's floor of Initiation.

In WDE+, select the sprite and use the arrow keys while holding Z or X. Z clips from bottom left and X from top right (or the other way around, I forget).
In WinDinkEdit, press X and Z, and then try all the arrow buttons. I think Z cuts it to up and right, and X cuts it to down and left. I'm not sure though, so test all of them.
EDIT: Darn you Sparrowhawk!!

You can do it in WinDinkEdit.

Oh cool, I'd always wondered how people did that! Never actually asked how, though...
Photo or it didn't happen
I can sense when someone's about to post something, and make sure to post the same thing 30 seconds earlier
You can do the same thing with scripts by the way, but it works a little strangely.

Just you wait, there is an alliance being formed to stop that trick Sparrow!

Personally I just take the graphic and cut it in another program, have noticed clipping things can mess with the hardbox.
I don't know anything about hardboxes, but I assume they stay put even though you trim the graphics which means you have to move the hardbox or draw a new one to fit the newly trimmed graphic?
Let me get this straight: trimming is like an in-wde cropping tool?

Yep.
And I don't think trimming it affects the hardbox, like Glennglenn said, so it's probably more that you end up with a wrong shape box for the newly clipped sprite rather than the box itself going funny shapes. I usually get around it by making the whole thing no_hit and doing any necessary hardness with other invisible sprites.

yep, didn't explain myself too well did I
the hard box stays in the same place, just sometimes it is no longer relevant to the clipped portion is what I meant
So Dink can be stopped by something you cant see if you click HARD on a clipped sprite soooo either change the hardbox for the new clipped bit (but this changes it on every other incident of this sprite eep... if that's fences or something you use heaps of... well just DON'T!) or as Sparrow says add sprites around the clipped sprite, make them invisible and hard
