stuck after spider tells me "we need to talk"
Day of the Carcass
Everytime i follow the spider into the house after he says "follow me, we need to talk" the game freezes after i enter the house. any suggestions?
I had the same bug, you need to open a specific script and remove the freeze(1); command. Just try to do nothing and wait for the dialogue to continue though, space won't skip dialogue while you aren't frozen.
Ask Erwin for the specific script, I've forgotten which one it was that he told me to do it in. >_>

I haven't got a clue why this isn't working for you and why it does work if you remove the freeze. Here's the name of the script anyway 'Env 43'.
Delete the D-mod, and try to download and install it again.
i removed the freeze file, i was able to talk to the old woman in the house, but after i leave theres nothing to do, no dragon, nothing. i downloaded the dmod again and the same thing happens. any suggestions?
Don't delete the file. Just the 'freeze(1);' line IN the file. (Atleast that's what worked for Ex-D for some reason.)
Because you DONT DELETE the file, you remove the freeze(1); line at the top of the script. Open it in Notepad to do so.
EDIT: Highlight freeze(1); and delete it, and nothing else. Then click save.
If you're running Vista, click save then specify a new directory, the desktop will do. This will still save it as .c.
Afterwards, copy it to the DotC story directory again. You may have to do a search for it, but it should be under your username folder in a specific directory. Can't remember it right now, but you can find more information elsewhere on the forum.

What you've been saying is that you deleted the FILE. Which is NOT what you need to do, though. Delete the LINE of SCRIPT IN the file, and you should be sorted. After that DO NOTHING, literally, until everyone on screen has stopped doing their own thing and you're free to move on. Otherwise you're interrupting everything else that is supposed to happen.
Perhaps he's having a slightly different problem. I haven't got a clue why it won't work on another computer and I can't find out what it is unless some people volunteer to help me test. As long as we don't know what's wrong we can't assume that things that work for one person work for the other.
For now just load your game, press 'T' to open the console, type &story += 1;, press enter and then escape to exit the console. This won't make the cutscene work but will allow you to continue.

i opened up the file. i deleted the line. not the file like you said and nothing. please walk me through step by step if you could. not real great with computers but want to play this game.
The file Erwin specified is all you need to change.
Open that, remove the freeze(1); line at the top of the script and leave everything else alone. Click save.
Open the Dmod, load your save game, and when you enter the house do nothing until everyone else has stopped doing everything (except David, he'll start moving all over the screen looking for invisible targets). Then walk out the door to the east.

Hmmm I can't test it but it may work if you increase the wait time. That must be it! The delay is not the same on every computer! There's a 'wait(50);' after a couple of lines of code. Change the number 50 to 500 or 1000 if that isn't enough.
if that solved it, you're sorted then
Next time try wait(200); as the minimum, eh?
