Dink has to deliver a parcel, but the king is taken prison and now it's up to Dink to save him.

Storyline, map and graphics: It starts out alright, that is, the intro explains what the storyline is going to be. After that you're kind of lost and there is not much else to do. The map is quite empty. There are no new graphics, except for the parcel.

Music: Fits the situation.

Bugs: If you save and then load, you start on a totally different screen where Dink isn't even to be seen.

Good: The intro is real nice. The new way you can heal is original.

Not so good: The title seems out of place, since there is no reference to it at all in the game. After the intro you don't have any healtpoints left. The way to heal, although original, is something I found after I finished the game; so some hint could have been included. Since you are facing some enemies after the intro and there seems no way to heal, you die easily by just touching them. Since there is NO savebot either, you have to restart the game every time you get killed which REALLY is annoying. The same goes for the prison scene: no savebot, so when you do the wrong thing, you die and have to restart and see that intro again - and again - and again. I think I saw it about ten times or so… The enemies get real tough real fast and there are no savebots in that area.

Overall: Very short, and except from the intro there is almost nothing to do.

Fit for: If you want to see an nice intro.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
In this demo of The Fountain of Life, the king asks Dink to deliver a present (that's a box of chocolates) to a girl named Jischlie. That seems easy but then an evil wizard comes with some goblins, takes the king away and he puts Dink into a prison. Dink escapes from the prison but now he must save the king - as far as the demo tells. This demo isn't a difficult one because the only enemies are pillbugs which you can easily avoid and/or kill. It's not a long D-Mod, the demo just ends at a certain point in the game. There's only one new item that you can get in your inventory and that's the present from the king and when you use it, Dink will take the chocolates and it'll refill his life.

The graphics in this D-Mod are fine but some screens have been decorated with a few sprites. There's also a missing graphic from the castle on a screen but oh well, I'll just let ya know. The demo of this D-Mod has five good midi in the sound directory but only one has been used in the D-Mod.

Too bad it's a demo now because you can't finish the mainquest but there's a small subquest in a house where you can help the old woman to get rid of the monsters in the basement, she'll give you some experience for that.
The reviewscore this D-Mod gets is also because of the fact that it's a demo. It's a good D-Mod for a demo but it could even be better when the author releases the full version of The Fountain of Life.

Hi. It's Christian here, the author. Nice to see that people still play that demo. It was a long time since i made and released it.

I know of the bug with the saving.. i asked a lot of people for help and noone could explain what was wrong, because the bug doesnt happen all the time, and some people seem to have no problems at all.

I understand that you may think that the story isnt what it's supposed to be. In fact, i had a pretty big story in my mind when i made the demo... it would be pretty big and that fountain should be a very important part. The thing i wanted to have in the demo was that thing prison, which i liked and still like alot..

I have much to do in school now, im finishing the "Gymnasium" here in about 1,5 months. So i dont know if or when i will start working on this again.

As you may have noticed ive been away from the Dink scene for a long time...

The emailaccount mentioned in the demo has been deleted for some reason, my new email is chrillea@hotmail.com if you would like to contact me.

Bye.
