This is a must read for any new DMOD author, especially those that are planning on adding new sounds. It took me a while to work out why some of my new wavs didn't work when I was making Croth, and why the DMOD would crash on starting... simple reason wav didn't have info in it... and this FAQ helped solved that. For that fact alone I love this file.

It doesn't deal with sound_bank and stuff which having finished PQ I wish I knew about before stating that DMOD.

This file gives answers to the most frequently asked questions about adding new sounds into D-mods.

Good about it: It covers a wide range of questions and/or problems that D-mod authors might have, and gives of course answers and solutions. It tells you how to load new sounds into a D-mod and why files may not load, why sounds do not work or why they suddenly stop, about the possibilities of using speech in a D-mod, what to think of when attaching sounds to sprites, and so on. The file is set up nicely: there are questions and answers, and I find that user friendly. It gives links to freeware/shareware editors.

Not so good: Although the file states that it will be updated, it hasn’t for a while. But the author stated in the file that MP3 import, using sound commands, midi manipulation will be added soon to this file.

Overall: A very good file to find the answers you need about implementing music in a D-mod.

This is funny, a person named Silencer releasing a file names 'sound FAQ', ok enough. This file is a FAQ on hoe sounds work in dink, and some of the problems that you will run into. If you plan on adding your own custom sounds, there are some rules you must follow in d-mods, and you need this FAQ.

This FAQ, though old, is still probably the best source for answering questions about using new or edited wave files in d-mods.

Strengths:
Explains how to load new sounds into a d-mod.
Offers advice on the best sample rates to use.
Offers an interesting theory on implementing speech into a d-mod. Provides a few links to sites where one may download sound editors.

Weakness:
FAQ hasn't been updated for over two years!!
Doesn't explain every type of problem that can occur when loading in new sounds; for example, that "pop" that can happen at the beginning or end of a wave file being played from within Dink.

Overall:
A good resource for beginning d-mod authors who wish to add new sounds to their d-mods, but have no idea how to go about doing it.
