I began game programming with RPG Maker 2000. At first I didn't have much persistance, but eventually, I started working harder on my games. Some companies such as squaresoft use real countrie's name. Usually the best way to name a country is to take a word in another language that represents that place and use that. For examnple, a place I was making once, Salem Island, is a place where there was peace between the natives and the indians. I'm not sure what language Salem is in, but I know for one thing it means "peace".
