schnapper, I have code that does something like what you want here for my dmod I'm working on (Wyrmsun) (and thanks to metatarasal and magicman for the big help in writing it). There are criticals, and a chance to miss or hit, but I couldn't make it so hit sounds happen only in actual hits. To represent them I've made text appear above the character that hits saying "*Hit*". If you (or anyone else) are interested, I can send it your way.
