: This is because the cat is smart, and the dog is stupid. The cat knows what he wants, the dog just lets you do whatever you want to it. The cat comes and wants to let you pet them, because they want acknowledgement, and a feeling of beloning in the group. Unlike dogs, who're only, ONLY after the food you can provide them. So they let you do that to them. If you don't give cats food, they go out and kill a bird, or moves elsewhere. They're smart. If you don't give a dog food, they will eventually attack you, or just starve themselves to death. Who's the smartest?
