: : Well here's what to do. If you get to the Ice island. visit the guy in the first house you see. He'll tell aobut a tax collector. Go to the tree NE. Dink will say something, go back to first house. He'll tell about the farmer . From house, go west and take (i dunno, maybe it's random but in my game it was) the top teleporter. Talk to guy, for fetching spellbook. Go to tree Screen again and TOUCH/action the pages. You can't pick it up, althoug dink will say something. Then talk to the farmer and he will give you FIREBALL. Guess what, burn down the tree to the NE.

Hmmm... I didn't get it to work either, so I messed around a bit, and finally checked the scripts and saw that the knight script should change the &story from 4 to 5, but it still didn't.
So I just changed the script - naughty me! - and then the guy in the house finally started to talk about a tax collector. Then I went to the tree, Dink said something, back to the farmer for fireball and then you can burn the darn tree.
Dunno if that script's the error why it doesn't work, but it worked for me al right though.
Isn't it a lot of work to type that >^..^< every time?
I could try a fish...
